I. Key Trends Related to China’s Strengthening Tungsten Export Controls
\nThe Chinese government is expanding and strengthening export controls on key minerals, including tungsten, to ensure national security and strengthen resource control. Consequently, supply instability in the global tungsten market is deepening.<\/p>\n

China’s market share: 70-80% tungsten tons of global production

II. List of Tungsten-Related Products Subject to China’s Export Controls
\nAs of February 4, 2025, the following tungsten-related items are subject to export controls, and exports of these items require approval from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.<\/p>\n

1. Ammonium paratungstate (APT)
\n2. Tungsten oxide
\n3. Tungstate
\n4. Solid tungsten (excluding particles and powder)
\n5. Certain tungsten alloys (such as tungsten\/nickel\/iron alloys or tungsten\/nickel\/copper alloys)<\/p>\n

III. Current Status of Tungsten Product Price Rise (as of December 2025)
\nTungsten raw material prices are rising sharply, reaching their highest level since 2011, a 14-year high, due to reduced supply and total mining capacity stemming from Chinese government export restrictions. However, the current upward price trend appears unlikely to stop, and it is expected to continue rising through 2026.<\/p>\n

The price increase rates for major tungsten-related items are as follows (increase rates compared to the beginning of 2025):
\nTungsten concentrate min. 65%: Approximately 256% increase
\nFerro-Tungsten 75%: Rising by approximately 230%
\nAmmonium paratungstate: increased by approximately 250%<\/p>\n
